Five: Grow

Post Five

Had a conversation with Sharina on our way back home from Gatwick at 1150pm. Sharina loves small talks while I tend to avoid them since they suck out my energy at fast rate. I had one beforehand on board with Andy and Christian who were seated on the same row as mine. But I learnt that small talks aren't just a talk. They are an informal sharing session which most of them are personal thus giving it more reasons to treasure them.

She was sharing some good points for job interview that she got from a senior who is working in London as pharmacist today.

"She got the job after attending to more than 30 interview session. She had been doing lots of unpaid work, volunteering etc just to improve herself; added value for employers. She said that what matter the most is the process; the work after that -you get the job or not, is His plan. "

One of the talks during akhawat mukhayyam (camping for ladies), Ummi shared the importance of having a growth mindset. I used to have that fixed mindset especially when I was in high school. I thought it was enough to obligate to the basics -five times prayer, fasting, recite alquran one page a day.

 "Why do more when you can get into jannah with the basics," was the confidence I had in my mind back then.

Growing up, now I see the importance to practise that growth mindset.

 "I want to grow -stronger, better, grow and grow to the end of my life." 

One. Growth mindset give you more excitement to explore in life. 

Two. You are not missing out of the society. You are keeping up with the development to stay relevant the whole of your life.

Three. You only live once; why settle it for dull, boring life anyway?

"Growth mindset students believe in the power of effort while fixed mindset students see effort as a sign of less ability, talents."

Well, Allah values our effort the most -not the result. Take Nuh A.S as an example, he preached to his people for 950 years yet less than 100 who were with him boarding the ark. Despite the number, Allah praised him in Alquran:

As Saffat: "Dan Kami abadikan untuk Nuh (pujian) di seluruh alam," 78

"Kesejahteraan atas Nuh di seluruh alam" 79
